It seems almost certain that as the JavaScript ecosystem continues to mature, a greater focus on utilizing the speed of compiled low-level-languages is the clearest path forward. I've heard Rust is especially good for this because with its great developer experience and flexible compiler, its easy to build tools like Napi. Rust's also pretty easy to develop, as the compiler provides some fantastic error handling.
